A land caught between a rock and a hard place, Poland or Polska in the native language, had a challenging 20th century. Under its current hard-right regime, it is still showing evidence of that tumultuous century where it lost what made the country remarkable-a nation of culture, industry, and intellect that competed well against its sophisticated western neighbors and held its own against its larger eastern neighbor. Poland is blessed and perhaps cursed by its mainly flat and fertile landscape, 480-mile Baltic coast, and the protection of the Carpathian mountains in the south. The four cities in this set embody all of these elements and are the most visited: Gdansk, Łódź, Krakow and Warsaw.

Each illustration is initially hand-drawn for precision and then permanently etched into cork. These make the perfect birthday or holiday gift. Each coaster is .25" thick and 4" in diameter. The engraving method has incredible detail and tactility. Fabricated from sustainable Portuguese cork. Designed and packaged in Philadelphia, PA USA.
Cork is a natural material, thus rare aberrations within the etching can occur, but at this scale good luck noticing.
