Manhole Cover Cork Trivet-Stanford

$25.00

Founded in 1891 by Leland Stanford, the eponymous university is renowned for its academic excellence on par with the Northeast’s Ivy League schools. Located in the beautiful landscape of Palo Alto, Stanford University is called the Farm as the land once was, but today’s crops are the well-educated and tech-savvy entrepreneurs of which Silicon Valley is known. The campus was originally laid out by Olmstead and has a Boston meets Californian architecture reminiscent of H.H. Richardson if he had migrated to NoCal. That gives the campus an aged feel rooted in a seemingly solid history despite its age. This cover can be found all over campus which features a monocot flower reminiscent of a lily at its core. An added founding date and the tree mascot (!) are sited top-center. A serif typeface spells out the name and use and shares the space with six, five-sided stars. 60 minus 2 dots ring the rim to make way for a pickpoint.

The perfect gift for housewarmings, and anniversaries each illustration is initially hand-drawn for precision and then permanently etched into cork. The trivets are .375" thick and 7.25" in diameter with rounded edges. The engraving method has incredible detail and tactility. Fabricated from sustainable Portuguese cork. Designed and packaged in Philadelphia, PA USA.
Cork is a natural material, thus rare aberrations within the etching can occur.
As each one is made to order please allow three business days for delivery.
