Dubbed Music City, Nashville, Tennessee’s State capital, is home to the Country Music Hall of Fame. Nearby are numerous venues to hear “America’s Vernacular music.” The music industry along with its decent weather, diverse population and location along the undulating Cumberland River makes Nashville a hot relocation spot in the USA. Created to capitalize on these new arrivals, Capitol View is a new downtown complex replete with bespoke iron covers for sanitary, communication and in this case stormwater. Recent flooding issues highlight the latter’s importance. Created by John Bouchard & Sons Co foundry in Nashville, this cover features a central five-pointed star within a star signifying the literal star on the map. The foundry’s logo sits below. A ring of Gotham lettering describes the location along with 6 five-pointed stars-twice the Volunteer state’s flag, which represents the state’s three distinct regions, by the way. The cover’s use is writ in Helvetica and surrounds all the above along with a curiously shaped gum splat and two cigarette butts. One butt is strangely familiar. Tennessee ranks in the top ten in the national smoking rate, but number one in the music scene.
