A bastion of multi-party democracy 110 miles off the coast of Communist China, Taipei is the capital of Taiwan. Home to over 2.6 million people, the capital has overgrown its original border of the Tamsui river causing the development of New Taipei City. That river and the rain that feeds it are featured in the center of this cover. A five-sided plum blossom blooms from there and is surrounded by a stylized circular motif. That motif has an alternating pattern allowing for vent holes and in this case, one representation of the white sun found on the flag of Taiwan. “Taipei” is written in Mandarin and English -one more link to democratic nations.
The perfect gift for housewarmings, and anniversaries each illustration is initially hand-drawn for precision and then permanently etched into cork. The trivets are .375" thick and 7.25" in diameter with rounded edges. The engraving method has incredible detail and tactility. Fabricated from sustainable Portuguese cork.
